ECF-700:2026 ESG Certification

Independent Certification. Demonstrated Conformity. Responsible Business.

EEESEF offers ECF-700:2026 ESG Certification as an optional, separately contracted certification programme for organisations that have completed the Foundation's Independent ESG Assessment process. Developed by EEESEF, the ECF-700:2026 ESG Management and Responsible Business Standard provides a structured framework for evaluating organisational conformity with defined environmental, social, governance, and responsible business management requirements.

Certification is subject to documented evidence, technical review, and an independent certification decision. It is not automatically granted following an ESG assessment, and certification fees do not influence assessment findings, conformity conclusions, or certification outcomes.

⇒ Our Approach

EEESEF's certification approach is based on documented requirements, objective evidence, professional independence, and transparent decision-making.

The certification process builds upon the results of the Independent ESG Assessment but involves a separate conformity evaluation against the applicable requirements of ECF-700:2026.

Organisations are expected to demonstrate that relevant management policies, operational controls, responsibilities, monitoring arrangements, and improvement measures are established and supported by appropriate evidence.

Where deficiencies or nonconformities are identified, corrective actions may be required before certification can be granted.

Our approach promotes meaningful ESG management practices rather than certification based solely on declarations or commitments.

⇒ Principal Certification Areas

Environmental Responsibility

Environmental management arrangements, emissions and energy management, water stewardship, waste management, pollution prevention, resource efficiency, and relevant environmental controls.

Social Responsibility

Occupational health and safety, employee welfare, responsible labour practices, stakeholder engagement, community considerations, and relevant supply-chain responsibilities.

Corporate Governance

Management accountability, ethical conduct, organisational policies, compliance responsibilities, internal controls, oversight arrangements, and governance transparency.

Sustainable Business Management

Integration of ESG responsibilities into organisational management, documented objectives, performance monitoring, risk management, corrective actions, and continuous improvement.

The specific certification scope and applicable requirements are determined by the ECF-700:2026 Standard, the organisation's activities, and the agreed certification arrangements.

⇒ Certification Process

1. Initial Consultation and Cooperation Framework

The organisation provides relevant corporate information and discusses its activities, intended scope, and interest in ESG assessment and certification.

Where a formal assessment has not yet been completed, EEESEF and the organisation first establish cooperation through a non-binding, non-financial Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

2. Independent ESG Assessment Agreement

Before undertaking the initial assessment, the parties enter into a separate, legally binding Independent ESG Assessment Agreement.

The assessment and its written report are provided without professional assessment or report fees, subject to agreed scope and available resources.

Any external laboratory, specialist, or travel expenses require separate disclosure and advance written agreement.

3. Completion of Independent ESG Assessment

EEESEF conducts its independent, evidence-based ESG assessment and issues a written report containing the assessment findings, score, rating, and recommendations.

The assessment provides the initial evaluation of the organisation's ESG performance but does not itself constitute ECF-700:2026 certification.

4. Separate Certification Agreement

Following completion of the Independent ESG Assessment, the organisation may voluntarily apply for ECF-700:2026 certification.

Certification requires a separate, legally binding Certification Agreement defining the certification scope, applicable requirements, responsibilities, and fees.

There is no obligation to proceed with certification after receiving the Independent ESG Assessment Report.

5. Conformity Evaluation and Technical Review

EEESEF evaluates the available evidence against the applicable ECF-700:2026 requirements.

The process may include additional documentation review, verification of management arrangements, examination of relevant records, and assessment of identified nonconformities or evidence gaps.

A separate technical review is undertaken before the certification decision.

6. Corrective Actions, Where Required

Where nonconformities, material inconsistencies, or insufficient evidence prevent certification, the organisation may be required to implement corrective actions and submit appropriate supporting evidence.

Certification is not granted until the applicable decision requirements have been satisfied.

7. Independent Certification Decision

EEESEF makes a documented certification decision based on the conformity evaluation, technical review, applicable criteria, and available evidence.

The decision may result in certification, certification pending corrective action, or refusal of certification.

Payment of certification fees does not guarantee a positive decision.

⇒ Certification Outcomes and Decision

ECF-700:2026 certification decisions are based on demonstrated conformity with the applicable Standard and the Foundation's established certification procedures.

The principal decision outcomes are:

CERTIFIED / CONFORMITY DEMONSTRATED

The organisation has demonstrated conformity with the applicable ECF-700:2026 requirements, with a qualifying assessment score of at least 85/100 and no major nonconformity, material adverse finding, or unresolved material inconsistency preventing certification.

CERTIFICATION PENDING CORRECTIVE ACTION

The organisation has not yet satisfied all applicable certification requirements, but identified deficiencies may be addressed through documented corrective action and further review.

NOT CERTIFIED

The organisation has not demonstrated the conformity required for certification, or material findings prevent a positive certification decision.

A qualifying numerical score alone does not guarantee certification. Material findings, nonconformities, evidence limitations, and technical review conclusions must also be considered.

⇒ Certification Documentation

Where certification is approved, EEESEF may issue an ECF-700:2026 Certificate of Conformity identifying the certified organisation, applicable scope, certification reference, and relevant validity information.

Certification documentation is intended to communicate the organisation's demonstrated conformity with the applicable EEESEF-developed Standard.

The certificate does not replace statutory permits, environmental licences, regulatory approvals, or other legally required authorisations.

Any use of the ECF-700:2026 certification mark or related statements must comply with the applicable certification conditions and authorisations.

⇒ Certification Fees and Professional Independence

Unlike EEESEF's Independent ESG Assessment and Report, which are provided without professional assessment or report fees, ECF-700:2026 certification is an optional paid programme.

Certification fees and associated contractual arrangements are established separately and disclosed before the organisation proceeds.

The Foundation maintains a clear distinction between its non-fee assessment activities and its separately contracted certification programme.

Certification payments do not influence assessment scores, technical findings, conformity evaluations, or certification decisions.

Organisations that complete an Independent ESG Assessment are under no obligation to purchase certification.

⇒ Relationship to Independent ESG Assessment

The Independent ESG Assessment and ECF-700:2026 Certification are two distinct but related activities.

Stage 1 — Independent ESG Assessment & Reporting

A structured evaluation of ESG practices, supported by a written report, findings, scoring, and recommendations. No professional assessment or report fees are charged.

Stage 2 — Optional ECF-700:2026 Certification

A separate, paid conformity evaluation and certification decision against the applicable ECF-700:2026 Standard, undertaken only after completion of the Independent ESG Assessment.

An ESG assessment rating, including a COMPLIANT rating, is not equivalent to certification and does not establish an entitlement to receive an ECF-700:2026 certificate.

⇒ Scope and Recognition of Certification

ECF-700:2026 is a proprietary ESG management and responsible business certification standard developed and administered by EEESEF.

It is not an ISO-accredited certification scheme, a government-issued certification, a regulatory approval, or a substitute for legally required environmental or operational compliance.

EEESEF does not represent ECF-700:2026 certification as independently accredited or officially recognised by government authorities unless such recognition has been separately established and can be substantiated.

The purpose of the programme is to provide participating organisations with a structured, evidence-based assessment of conformity with EEESEF's defined ESG management requirements.

⇒ Who May Participate?

ECF-700:2026 certification may be considered by eligible organisations operating in sectors including industrial manufacturing, environmental technology, energy, mining, infrastructure, engineering, construction, water treatment, transport, logistics, and related industries.

Participation is subject to the organisation's activities, the applicability of the Standard, the availability of suitable evidence, and EEESEF's capacity to undertake the required evaluation.

EEESEF may consider organisations in the United Kingdom, Europe, Central Asia, China, Canada, and other international markets.

⇒ Enquiries and Participation

Organisations interested in ECF-700:2026 certification are invited to contact EEESEF with a brief corporate profile, description of their principal activities, and proposed certification scope.

EEESEF can explain the relationship between the Independent ESG Assessment and optional certification, discuss the applicable process, and identify the appropriate next steps.
